As a new leader, she is untested and faced with skepticism from her subjects, and it doesn’t help that most of them don’t trust her, expecting her to be as tyrannical as her late father. In terms of POVs, we have more or less the same ones from the first book, beginning with Lin, who has become Emperor since the death of her father.
